Lights Out Decaf
Gently roasted to maintain its natural sweetness, Lights Out Decaf is for those who aim to moderate their mood and energy throughout the day. Grown at high altitudes in the Honduran state of Marcala, La Paz, this coffee is grown by a community cooperative of smallholders whose core objective is the wellbeing of humans working in harmony with nature, and is produced in tandem with the local ecosystem while providing state-of-the-art education facilities and entrepreneurship.
This Fairtrade and Organic coffee is then carefully decaffeinated via a water process.
Ever wonder what water-processed means anyway? Water process is a way to decaffeinate coffee. Green coffee is pre-soaked in water to expand the beans for caffeine extraction. The hydrated green coffee is then introduced to a unique solution of concentrated coffee solubles that draw out the caffeine while minimizing the loss of flavor compounds. Once the caffeine has been removed the green coffee is re-dried and re-bagged for transport, and the extract solution is filtered of its caffeine and recycled to be used again.
Zocalo Coffee ONLY selects coffee that has been water-processed as opposed to other methods that use chemical solvents.
Our Lights Out Decaf coffee has notes of Granny Smith Apple Pie and Ice Cream. This medium roast decaf is the specialty coffee you’ll turn to satisfy your coffee cravings all day long without leaving you wide-eyed and awake when it’s time for lights out.
